This website is operated by Juliana Webel, an independent sustainability consulting and mentoring practice (Freiberuflerin) based in Hamburg, Germany.

I am the controller responsible for the personal data described in this policy.

I provide sustainability advisory services for small and medium-sized organisations, and mentoring for women across sectors and career stages. This website is mainly informational.

3. What personal data I collect

3.1 Information you provide via the contact form or by email

If you contact me, I may collect your name, your email address, your company name and role if you provide them, and the content of your message. You provide this voluntarily so that I can respond.

3.2 Information you provide through the Sustainability Readiness Check

The Sustainability Readiness Check is a self-assessment tool available on this website. It works entirely in your browser. Your answers are not transmitted anywhere while you use it, and no account is required.

If, at the end of the check, you choose to submit the contact form, the following is sent to me: your work email address, your name and company name if you provide them, and the answers you gave during the check. I use this to understand your situation and respond to your enquiry.

If you do not submit that form, nothing you answered leaves your device.

3.3 Technical data needed to run the site

When you visit this site, limited technical data may be processed automatically by my hosting providers (for example, IP address, browser type, pages visited). This is used only to operate and secure the site, and to understand general usage in an aggregated way. It is not used to identify you personally or to build profiles.

I do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or analytics tools for marketing or profiling.

3.4 Information you provide when subscribing to The Monday ECO-nomics [NEW]

The Monday ECO-nomics is my free weekly newsletter. If you subscribe, I collect your email address, and any name you choose to give.

Subscription uses a double opt-in: after signing up you receive an email asking you to confirm, and you are only added to the list once you confirm.

When I send the newsletter, my provider records basic engagement data, such as whether an email was opened and which links were clicked, so that I can understand what readers find useful.

You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every issue. Unsubscribing withdraws your consent for future sends.

4. Why I process your data (legal bases)

Responding to your enquiries, messages and readiness check submissions. Legal basis: steps taken at your request prior to entering into a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR), and my legitimate interest in responding to business enquiries (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Sending The Monday ECO-nomics and measuring its engagement. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), given at sign-up and withdrawable at any time via the unsubscribe link in every issue.

Operating and securing the website. Legal basis: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Keeping records where the law requires it. Legal basis: compliance with a legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR).

I do not use your data for advertising or remarketing, I do not build detailed profiles of you, and I do not sell personal data. The only engagement measurement I carry out is the basic open and click tracking on my newsletter, described in section 3.4.

5. How I use your data

I use your data only to read and respond to your message or submission, to follow up with you about services or collaboration you have asked about, to send you The Monday ECO-nomics if you have subscribed and to understand in a basic way how readers engage with it, to keep basic records where required by law (for example, accounting and tax), and to operate and protect this website.

6. Sharing your data

I share data only with service providers who help me run this website, the readiness check, my newsletter and my email, and only so far as they need it to provide that service. They act as processors on my instructions. These currently include:

Wix, which hosts this website.
Netlify, which hosts the Sustainability Readiness Check and handles the submission of its contact form.
beehiiv, which operates my newsletter The Monday ECO-nomics, including subscription, delivery and engagement statistics. beehiiv is based in the United States. This transfer is made under the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (controller-to-processor, Module 2), under which I act as data controller and beehiiv as my processor.
My email provider, which delivers and stores the messages you send me.

I may also share data with professional advisers or authorities where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to establish or defend legal claims.

Some of these providers are based outside the EU and EEA, or may process data outside it. Where that happens, transfers are made on the basis of appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

7. Cookies and similar technologies

I aim to use only cookies and similar technologies that are necessary to make the site work and to protect it from misuse. I do not intentionally use cookies for advertising, remarketing or detailed analytics.

The Sustainability Readiness Check does not set cookies and does not load analytics or tracking scripts.

[NEW] My newsletter, The Monday ECO-nomics, uses standard email engagement measurement through my newsletter provider: a small tracking pixel to record whether an email is opened, and tagged links to record which links are clicked. This applies only to the newsletter emails, not to this website.

You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Disabling some cookies may affect how the site works.

8. How long I keep your data

I keep enquiry data (including readiness check submissions) only as long as needed to respond to you and to maintain our correspondence, and in any case no longer than 12 months after our last contact, unless our conversation has led to an ongoing working relationship.

I keep your newsletter subscription data for as long as you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, you are removed from active sending. Some records may be retained where the law requires it.

Where tax and commercial law requires me to retain records, I keep them for the statutory periods required under German law, and no longer.

When data is no longer needed, I delete it or anonymise it.

9. Your rights under the GDPR

If you are in the EU or EEA, you have the following rights, subject to the conditions set out in the GDPR:

Access: to know whether I process your data, and to receive a copy.
Rectification: to have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected.
Erasure: to ask me to delete your data in certain circumstances.
Restriction: to ask me to limit how I process your data in certain circumstances.
Portability: to receive your data in a structured, commonly used format, and to have it transferred to another controller where technically feasible.
Objection: to object to processing based on legitimate interests.
Withdrawal of consent: where I rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. This does not affect processing carried out before withdrawal. For the newsletter, the unsubscribe link in every issue does this.

To exercise any of these, write to connect@julianawebel.com. I will respond within one month.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. For this practice, the competent authority is the Hamburgische Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit (HmbBfDI). You may also complain to the authority where you live or work.

10. If you are in Brazil (LGPD)

I work with clients and contacts in Brazil. If you are in Brazil, the Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados (LGPD) may apply to the processing described here.

Under the LGPD you have broadly equivalent rights: to confirm that processing takes place, to access your data, to correct incomplete or inaccurate data, to request anonymisation, blocking or deletion of unnecessary or excessive data, to request portability, to be informed about with whom your data has been shared, and to withdraw consent where consent is the basis for processing.

11. Security

I take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against loss, misuse, unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration and destruction. This site and the readiness check are served over encrypted connections.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but I work to keep your data as safe as reasonably possible.

12. Children

My services are not directed at children under 16, and I do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided me with personal data, please get in touch so that I can delete it.
